Our main narrative image displays the two main characters of the film, Jake and Stuart. We chose to centre place them so that they stand out, it shows that they are important and play an important role in the narrative. It also highlights the contrast between the two characters, Jake is dressed in a dark tracksuit, his hood up with a moody expression on his face, a typical representation of the 'youth of today'. In contrast we have Stuart, who is smartly dressed in a shirt, wearing glasses and looks much more mature. As this is not the typical representation of what a youth is classed as, it slightly gives away that he is going to be the less favoured character in the film. This big contrast kind of causes the audience to realise why Stuart might get bullied, he's different from what's expected, he goes against the social norms. The way they are standing initiates some sort of relationship between the two characters, as the audience would not of seen the film yet, they would be unclear what kind of relationship it is, but yet it would be something interesting to discover. The image is large, covering the masthead, lots of magazines tend to do this with their main narrative image which suggests that the image is more important than the masthead, the image is what you should be paying attention to.
In addition to the main narrative image, there is also the film reel. This was actually produced by ourselves, and we inserted movies that we made up too, simply to make sure everything was all our work. Having other films on the front cover of a film magazine is a common feature so we thought we would include it to, the film reel was just a creative idea that we thought we would use to make it look more appealing and professional. It just gives it a nice finish.
The colour scheme of our magazine front cover is basically black, gold and red. The black is quite a prestigious colour, it connotes authority and style, these are qualities we like to think our magazine possesses. The gold just gives it a bit of colour, makes it look more attractive and eye catching, it is also a colour you
would associate with winning and first place, it slightly represents the idea we have about our film magazine, that it is a first place film magazine. The sky line 'THE REDEMPTION WORLD EXCLUSIVE' is a massive selling point, everybody loves exclusive, new information that has not yet been released, it is a perfect reason for people to want to buy the magazine. Also by including items such as 'FREE REDEMPTION POSTER' it gives your reader that little bit extra, makes them feel 'special' and like they have been treated well, therefore claiming that this magazine is worth its money. Lastly the title of our film 'REDEMPTION' is kept to its white colour scheme, we chose this as white connotes purity and innocence, qualities that Stuart possesses and that Jake is trying to gain through redemption. It is a huge contrast against the black background, this contrast, along with the image contrast, we hope would get the audience thinking about the narrative, getting them thinking about our film.
